Benjamin The Momma's boy

ben001.jpg

Catahoula Leopard Dog - born June 2005!

Benjamin was adopted from Catahoula Rescue at 8 weeks after I transported him and 6 of his tiny little siblings to their new home. I saw his face and his color and fell in love. Ben is a complete momma's boy, and very attached to me, and his toys and will defend them till death! Since he has no crate anymore, he now defends his bed under my desk!

Benjamin loves to play with Autumn - with so many dogs in the pack, he plays all the time. Ben is not very accepting of strange people and other dogs he doesn't already know, he is very guarded around strange people and it takes him a while to warm up to them. However for those who he does know, he loves a good belly rub!

Ben's latest antic is to jump on to my lap, wrap his paws around my neck and bury his head in my chest. He is very coy and absolutely eats up any mommy attention he can get. When we go outside he stands guard next to me - a very sweet boy!

Katey the Boss

100_0161.JPG

Miniature Pinscher - Born 10/17/2002!

Katey was my first doggie and I purchased her at a pet store (before I knew better) for $1200 for her and all of her "accessories". When she was a puppy she fit in the palm of my hand! Katey is in charge of the pack in my house - the others may bark and fuss at one another, but the buck stops with her!

Katey is smart, stubborn and very cute! And she knows it and uses it to her advantage. She is completely fearless and even at her 12 pounds she will not hesitate to break up a 4-way catahoula brawl in the back yard. After too many of these "play" dates which landed her in the hospital so many times she is no longer allowed in the back yard with the big dogs - so she only gets to play with them indoors where things are more controlled.

She absolutely loves Willow and the two are constatly playing. At night, Katey sleeps in bed with me and loves to curl up under the covers.

Max The Stud

100_0083.JPG

Miniature Pinscher - Adopted in August of 2003 at 14 Months from Minpin Rescue (IMPS)!

Max was adopted to be a playmate for Katey and has become a mean little marking machine since then. At 16 lbs, he is the most ferocious dog in the bunch and will bite your ankles off if you piss him off! Max loves his mommy and doesn't really get along with any other dogs in the pack except for Autumn and Katey.

He really hates Ben and harasses him at every opportunity! Max is is very territorial, and everything belongs to him - hence his need to mark everything his! He loves attention and is 100% a lapdog - if he sees an empty lap, he will fill it wether you want him to or not!

Max's marking has gotten out of control lately and even the belly band will not contain him anymore so anytime I am not around to watch him, he has to be crated or he will pee on everything. He is a very happy-go-lucky dog who is afraid of absolutely nothing.

While the other dogs are terrified of the Vacumm cleaner, Max has vowed to destroy it and every time I vacumm I have to lock him up or he will attack lol!

Shelby - Crossed the bridge 01/26/2006

Gracie 019.jpg

Miniature Pinscher - Adopted from IMPS July 2005.

Shelby was killed on Thusday January 26th 2006 - to this day I have a difficukt time thinking about that since it happened in my backyard. She was my baby and very near and dear to me. There is a hole in my heart with her departure - my only comfort is that she is now in a better place. I will always love Shelby!

Shelby had a difficult life and I am thankful I was able to love her and give her a good home for the final months in her life. I LOVE YOU SHELBY!

Abbey (Abigail) The Destroyer

abbey_closeup.jpg

Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit bull mix - Adopted from Char-Meck Animal Control 09/2005.

Abbey is about 18 months at the time of adoption! Although I had no room for her, I took her in anyway because she was so depressed at the shelter she had stopped eating, playing and even moving around. I brought her home and within a week she completed changed and won me over. Once I adopted her, she proceeded to eat the house! Abbey used to suffer from separation anxiety, but she has made incredible progress. She no longer neerds her crate during the day, she can be loose without the baby gate and not destroy anything. Lately Abbey has taken to jumping over the gate when I am not home, so every time I arrive home, I am greeted by her cutey-patootey pit face at the door.

Abbey loves to be loved. She absolutely melts when you look at her or say her name. She loves belly rubs, to be petted and the company of her fellow packmembers. Her bestest friends are Willow and lately the puppy, Piper. Abbey is afraid of strange people and I am fairly certain she had a fair amount of abuse in her past but these days are long gone! She is very friendly towards most women and other dogs!

Autumn - Ms. Attitude!

inventory 008.jpg

Australian Cattle Dog/Catahoula Leopard Dog

Autumn was pulled from a shelter in Alabama just days before she was due to be put down in early October 2006. She was 10 months old. She is a Catahoula/Aussie Cattle (Blue Heeler) mix and we had some serious dominance issues when she arrived. Although she never challenged Katey she did bully everyone else around and continues to do that to this day, although we have worked through much of that and she has quietly learned she tends to get what she wants (most of the time attention) by being nice instead of harassing other dogs.

Autumn picks still fights at times but mostly out of excitement - she has recently learned to wait for her turn for attention and treats which was difficult for her. She loves to bark - at everything! She loves to watch TV and bark at animals she sees. She mainly barks at dogs, horses, birds and cats and she is so smart, she will even remember movie sountracks associated with animals, and when she hears the songs from the scenes with animals she will bark, in excitement waiting for the animal to appear.

She is smart, intelligent and very affectionate, Autumn also loves to dance! If you turn the music up and dance with her she will dance right back with you! She gets along with every single other dog, although she has a beef with Willow, but really loves to play with Max, Ben and Katey!

Willow who loves everyone!

100_0139.JPG

Catahoula Leopard Dog/Labrador Mix - Adopted from Char-Meck Animal Control in 11/2005

Willow is approximately 2 years old at the time of adoption! Willow was heartworm positive at the time of the adoption and she is so sweet, that the shelter held her for over 2 weeks past her euthanasia date hoping to find her a home, even though she was HW+!

Willow LOVES everyone - every dog, person, cat - anything. She wants to play all the time and has never met another creature she could not get along with! She is gentle, caring and sweet and has the most laid back and agreeable personality in the whole pack.

Katey is her bestest friend in the world and the two play together all the time! Willow's tail however, has been designated a lethal weapon as it is capable of clearing a table or knocking down a small child at times of utter excitement!

Piper - The Gentle Giant!

puppies 016.JPG

Piper adopted from C.U.R.S in December 2007 at 3 months of Age!

Piper is 100% pure puppy power! She is into everything, in everyone's faces and she doesn't care! All of the rest of the pack has warmed up to her very well and she goes from drog to dog playing ALL DAY. Autumn is very happy to have her around - since Piper is up for playtime all the time!

Piper is going to be huge - we are not sure what she is mixed with, but I am starting to think she may have some Great Dane in her! Face of an angel that lately has decided to eat the DVD's in the house! Piper's mouth is like a vacum - whatever she sees on the floor she will eat so you have to be very careful with things around her.

She is a gentle dog, who is completely TERRIFIED of anyone she does not know. I have taken her out many times but this seems to be a personality trait for her. She also likes to stare at me which makes things a bit odd at times - she will sometimes sit and stare at me for over an hour without blinking!
